  • End of term

    Wed 15 Dec 2021 CJ

Christmas performances will be released tomorrow or Friday. We hope you enjoy them.

It is worth noting that, with current guidelines, if a child or a family member was to contract COVID from today (Wednesday 15th December) onwards, then you would need to isolate for Christmas day, an eventuality nobody wants to incur.
It is for this reason that I kindly ask parents to avoid sending in any pupils with the wider symptoms or any mild illness.
We would like everyone, pupils, staff and you as parents to be able to safely spend time with family over this festive season.

Christmas holiday free school meal payment vouchers

The local authority is currently issuing vouchers for pupils eligible for free school meals (eFSM) to the value of £39 for the Christmas break.  Please be aware that it might take several days for all vouchers to be issued to parents/carers.  Please only contact the local authority if you have not received your voucher by Friday 17 December.  Communication received before this date will not be responded to.

As vouchers are issued in batches, you may not receive all your vouchers together.  If you are expecting more than one voucher (one per child), you may receive some vouchers by text and some by email depending on the contact details that have been provided by your child’s school.

Please check your SPAM folder before you attempt to contact the local authority.

You will receive the voucher either by text message to your mobile from ‘Cash Out’ or by email from no-reply@paypointsvp.com

    Wed 08 Dec 2021 CJ

Dear Parents/Carers, As you are aware, COVID 19 is still prevalent in the community as are the common winter illnesses. Unfortunately, I write to you now to tell you that finding supply cover for staff absence is proving very difficult. There have been times in the last few weeks that we have been very close to closing classes due to insufficient staffing. On these occasions we have been able to find suitable staff cover, either through supply or with myself covering the class. At the time of writing we are currently fine and staffing is at a good and safe level. However, we are only 2 or 3 staff members falling ill from having to close the classes affected. Every school is in the same position and finding supply staff is like finding a needle in a haystack. I write to you today not to frighten you but to be open and honest about the situation the school and other schools are facing in the cluster, Bridgend and in Wales in general. While closing a class is the very last thing we want to do, I must ensure that classes have the appropriate staff numbers in them to ensure we can operate safely. If we do not have the required amount of staff then I will have no option but to close the class until appropriate staffing arrangements can be made. I will try and give you enough notice, hopefully the night before but unfortunately situations can change quite rapidly. I hope that I will never be in the position to do this but feel I need to warn parents that this is a realistic problem that we may encounter in the next 10 days.

    CAR PARKING AROUND SCHOOL

Please can parents be considerate when parking around school.

There are double yellow lines there for a reason.

I am fearful that due to inconsiderate and dangerous parking on zig zags and on double yellow lines that a serious accident could happen.

I have this morning emailed the Local Authority and contacted the local police for their support in this matter.

It is only a matter of time before a child gets hurt.

    PLEASE PARK RESPONSIBLY
